Effects of Academic Stress on Non-dailiness Experience on Difficulties in Online Classes - Mediated Effects of Fear Related to COVID-19 -
This study verified the relationship between the academic stress experienced by youths due to the COVID-19 incident, the fear of COVID-19 infection, and the difficulties caused by non-dailiness experiences caused by COVID-19. The research participants were 236 youths living in Seoul, and were conducted in December 2020, during the 2.5 stage of "Social Distancing." The results of the study are as follows. First, the average difference between men and women was found to be statistically significant in fear of COVID-19 and difficulties in non-dailiness experiences caused by COVID-19. Second, we verified that COVID-19 fear mediates in the relationship between academic stress and non-dailiness difficulties. Academic stress has had a statistically significant effect on COVID-19 fears. In the second regression, COVID-19 fears had a significant impact on non-dailiness difficulties, but the effects of academic stress on non-dailiness difficulties were not statistically significant as COVID-19 fears were introduced, indicating that fear variables from COVID-19 were fully mediated. Through these findings, we present the significance and limitations of this study and present discussions for subsequent research.
