In high school social studies, all other subjects are single, independent subjects, but politics and law are integrated subjects. Looking at the previous curriculum revision, the law was included as a unit in politics from the 1st to the 6th curriculum. Then, in the 7th curriculum, ‘Politics’ and ‘Law and Society’ were separated into independent subjects. In the 2007 revised curriculum, the two subjects maintained the status of independent subjects. However, in the 2009 revised curriculum, these two subjects were merged into one subject again, and as a result, it became a subject with many content elements. And to this day, it has maintained an uncomfortable integration. What changes would you like to make in the current curriculum revision? The 2022 revised curriculum will be applied along with the high school credit system. The purpose of the high school credit system is to ensure that students have a variety of subject options. At the same time, it seeks to reduce the burden of learning for students and to pursue convergence education at the same time. Ahead of these changes, politics and law should seek alternatives while keeping all three possibilities open: separation of subjects, maintenance of integration, and development of new subjects in the field of the career elective subject.
