With the upcoming introduction of the high school academic credit system and the 2022 curriculum revision, this study was conducted to explore the composition of the contents of the law and human rights related high school curriculum. First, this study was covered with the policies related to the introduction of the high school credit system, and analyzed the impact of these policy changes on social science education. In order to analyze how law and human rights curriculum can be organized in more detail in the 2022 revised curriculum, the curriculum for high school law in Ontario (Canada), Finland, New South Wales (Australia), and Berlin (Germany) and Korea’s 2015 revised curriculum. After analyzing the curriculums of each country, it was difficult to find cases like Korea where political studies and law are integrated and studied as a single elective course. In other places, there were courses focusing on law, and human rights-related subjects were taught within other social study subjects. Introduction to legal studies, civil law, and criminal law were the most commonly covered subjects among the education system of the countries in the study. The number of elective courses related to law differed by country or state. In some cases, such as in Ontario, Canada, there were multiple related courses and students were provided with guidance on what sequence to take them in when selecting subjects. To put the high school credit system in place, the successful development of the revised curriculum in 2022 is essential. We hope the results of this study can be of use in the development of social studies, law, and human rights curriculums in the 2022 revision.
